Wayne Brady, Taye Diggs to star in 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' on Broadway

The stage and screen stars will play limited engagements the cast of the 10-time Tony Award-winning show at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre beginning in July.

Welcome to the Moulin Rouge! Wayne Brady and Taye Diggs will join the Moulin Rouge! The Musical Broadway cast this summer, playing their first performances on July 22 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Five-time Emmy Award winner Brady most recently appeared on Broadway in the title role of The Wiz in 2024, and his other Broadway roles include Billy Flynn in Chicago and Lola in Kinky Boots. He is also known for hosting the TV show Let's Make a Deal and appearing regularly on Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Diggs has appeared in Broadway productions including Chicago, Wicked, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. On screen, he is known for appearing in the Rent and Chicago movie musicals and appearing as a series lead on Private Practice, Murder in the First, and All American.

In Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Brady will take over the role of Harold Zidler from Austin Durant, who in turn steps in after current cast member Boy George plays his final performance May 25. Diggs will assume the role of the Duke of Monroth from Andy Karl.

Brady will play a limited engagement through November 9, and Diggs through September 28.

Alongside Durant and Karl, current cast members Solea Pfeiffer as Satine and Jordan Fisher as Christian will play their final performances on July 20. Additional casting has yet to be announced.

Winner of 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is adapted from Baz Luhrmann's same-named film about the forbidden romance between a writer and a showgirl in the titular Parisian nightclub.
