The Moulin Rouge has a new sparkling diamond! Joanna Levesque, better known as the singer JoJo, will make her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway. JoJo will play a limited engagement as Satine from April 11 to July 16.

JoJo takes over the role of Satine from Ashley Loren, who plays her final performance on April 9. Additionally, Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit will leave the show on that date, and JoJo will star opposite Tony nominee Derek Klena as Christian.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is based on Baz Luhrmann's film of the same name about the courtesan Satine and writer Christian, who fall into a fated romance at the title nightclub in 1899 Paris. The show features dozens of pop hits from various decades, from "Your Song" to "Bad Romance."

The show has played the Al Hirschfeld Theatre since 2019 and won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

Who is JoJo?

JoJo is a platinum-selling singer whose early hits include “Leave (Get Out)” and "Too Little Too Late." Her albums include good to know, Mad Love, and The High Road. In 2020, her song with PJ Morton, "Say So," won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song.
