Boy George to join 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' cast

The Grammy Award-winning artist will play a limited engagement in the Tony Award-winning Broadway show at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre beginning in February 2024.

Welcome to the Moulin Rouge! Boy George will join the cast of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway, playing a limited engagement at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre from February 6 to May 12, 2024.

Boy George is best known as the lead singer of Culture Club, the Grammy Award-winning '80s band known for songs like "Karma Chameleon." Moulin Rouge! The Musical will mark Boy George's return to Broadway for the first time in 20 years, after he made his debut with the musical Taboo in 2003. He created the concept, music, and lyrics for the show, which he also starred in.

In Moulin Rouge! The Musical, he will play the role of emcee Harold Zidler. Tituss Burgess currently plays the role through December 17, and former cast member Eric Anderson will return to the role from December 19 through February 4.

The current Moulin Rouge! The Musical Broadway cast also includes Casey Cott as Christian, Courtney Reed as Satine, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke, Gabe Martínez as Santiago, and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini.

Based on the hit Baz Luhrmann film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical follows the star-crossed romance between the writer Christian and courtesan Satine in the title Paris nightclub. The show won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and features more than 40 pop songs from the 1940s to the 2010s.
