March is arguably the most exciting month in the theatrical calendar because, traditionally, it is the month where the highest number of new Broadway productions either begin previews or officially open on the Great White Way. A large number of shows always tend to begin performances in March so that they are working like a well-oiled maching by the time the cut-off date for eligibility for the Tony Awards arrives towards the end of April. In other words, Broadway fans, this is the month that you get spoiled rotten! Take a look at what's in store...

March 1

Starting off the month in style are two star-studded Broadway premieres! Although originally scheduled to begin previews on February 7, Edward Albee's Three Tall Women had to be delayed for a couple of days due to technical issues, but now this Pulitzer Prize-winning drama will finally come to life on a Broadway stage. And for the first time after a 30-year absence, two-time Academy Award winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Glenda Jackson returns to the Great White Way! If that wasn't enough, she'll be joined on stage by a true Broadway favorite and Tony Award winner, who is currently making headlines for her Oscar-nominated turn in "Lady Bird" - Laurie Metcalf! Rounding out the cast is Tony Award nominee Alison Pill in what is sure to be a spring masterclass in stage acting! An official opening is scheduled for March 29 at the Golden Theatre. In addition, Second Stage Theater kicks off its inaugural Broadway season at the newly renovated and refurbished Hayes Theater with Academy Award winner Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero, headlined by two comic book icons - "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" star Michael Cera and "Captain America" himself, Chris Evans, making his Broadway debut! Will they usher in a couple of superheroic stage performances in this tense, murder investigation drama? We'll find out when Lobby Hero officially opens on March 26.

Three Tall Women Tickets are available now for performances through to June 24, 2018.

Lobby Hero Tickets are available now for performances through to May 13, 2018.

March 4

March 4 is your last chance to catch a true stage veteran in a truly intimate setting, as Emmy and Tony Award winner John Lithgow's solo show Stories By Heart ends its limited run at the American Airlines Theatre. Experience how Mr. Lithgow takes classic short stories by Ring Lardner and P. G. Wodehouse and weaves them together with revealing and personal anecdotes from his own family life in this unique theatrical experience.

John Lithgow - Stories By Heart Tickets are available now for performances through to March 4, 2018.

March 5

Emmy Award winner Wayne Brady returns to the Land of Lola on March 5 and will once again swap "Let's Make a Deal" for a pair of thigh-high, red PVC Kinky Boots in the hit Broadway musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" star will play a limited engagement through to April 26, joining "Scissor Sisters" frontman Jake Shears (Charlie Price until April 1) and "Pentatonix" singer Kristin Maldonado (Lauren until April 26) on stage to prove that the sex is still in the heel!

Kinky Boots Tickets are available now for performances through to January 13, 2019.

March 11

March 11 is "Last Chance Saloon" to catch three awesome ladies on the stage as they each come to the end of their respective limited engagements. Academy Award nominee Uma Thurman comes to the end of her Broadway debut in The Parisian Woman at the Hudson Theatre, whilst six-time Grammy Award nominee Sara Bareilles plays her final performance of her return engagement as Jenna in her own musical Waitress at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Over at the Ambassador Theatre, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kandi Burruss will belt out "When You're Good to Mama" one last time as Matron 'Mama' Morton in long-running musical Chicago, with legendary singer-songwriter Valerie Simpson taking over as the Countess of the Clink from March 12.

The Parisian Woman Tickets are available now for performances through to March 11, 2018.

Waitress Tickets are available now for performances through to December 23, 2018.

Chicago Tickets are available now for performances through to September 30, 2018.

March 12

Grab your cheese fries, Broadway fans, those infamous Mean Girls are finally hitting the Broadway stage! Tina Fey's musical adaptation of the hit 2004 movie has been talked about for years and March 12 marks the first preview at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, the show boasts true Broadway credibility in both its cast and creative team and we have a feeling that youngsters will be flocking and forming a ruthlessly loyal fanbase for the musical. It's going to be sooooooo fetch!

Mean Girls Tickets are available now for performances through to September 23, 2018.

March 15

On March 15, the first official Broadway opening of the spring takes place at the Marquis Theatre with Jimmy Buffett's Caribbean-infused jukebox musical Escape to Margaritaville! Brought to you by the same director-choreographer-combo behind smash hit Come From Away, this production promises nothing but sun, kettledrums, piña coladas and good vibes! If, on the other hand, you fancy something a little more classic, then why not head down to Lincoln Center Theater's Vivian Beaumont Theater where previews begin for the Broadway revival of Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady? The cast boasts two-time Emmy Award-nominated "Six Feet Under" star Lauren Ambrose, who takes on the lead role of Eliza Doolittle,  "Downton Abbey" and "The Crown" actor Harry Hadden-Paton, making his NY stage debut as Henry Higgins, with two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and "Game of Thrones" favorite Diana Rigg as Alfred P. Doolittle and Mrs. Higgins, respectively. You'll be left thinking "I Could Have Danced All Night" for weeks!

Escape to Margaritaville Tickets are avilable now for performances through to November 18, 2018.

My Fair Lady Tickets are available now for performances through to September 2, 2018.

March 16

Attention, Muggles! The wait is finally over! J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World lands on Broadway at last with the record-breaking, 9-time Olivier Award-winning hit play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which begins previews at the Lyric Theatre on March 16. The Broadway transfer stars seven of the original London company members, including Jamie Parker (as Harry Potter), Noma Dumezweni (as Hermione Granger), and Paul Thornley (as Ron Weasley), and tells an original story set nineteen years after the events of Rowling's final novel "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". With onstage illusions that defy explanation, get ready to be bewitched and bedazzled by the most eagerly anticipated play of the season!

March 20

And now time for something completely different... Before King Kong roars into the Broadway Theatre this fall, a musical fusion extravaganza by the name of Rocktopia begins a limited engagement at the venue on March 20 (and officially opens on March 27). The idea behind Rocktopia is to fuse together some of the world's favorite rock songs from the likes of Queen, U2, Journey, Pink Floyd and The Who with some of the greatest classical music ever written, including compositions from Mozart, Beethoven, Handel, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and more. In addition, for the first three weeks of the run until April 8, Rocktopia will also feature special guest star Pat Monahan - a three-time Grammy Award winner and frontman of multi-platinum-selling band Train.

Rocktopia Tickets are available now for performances through to April 29, 2018.

March 22

March 22 marks the second official Broadway opening of the spring, as Disney Theatrical gets set to conquer the Great White Way once again with its musical adaptation of its 2-time Academy Award-winning animated classic Frozen at the St. James Theatre. Find out how Elsa, Anna, Olaf & co. fare when faced with the icy temperament of the Broadway critics. On the same evening, two Broadway revivals also begin previews. Firstly, the Berkshire Theater Group production of Mark Medoff's 1980 Tony Award-winning "Best Play" Children of a Lesser God transfers to Studio 54 under the helm of Tony Award winner Kenny Leon, and brings its stars Lauren Ridloff & TV favorite Joshua Jackson with it. And secondly, Tony and two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington returns to Broadway to take on the iconic role of Hickey in Eugene O'Neill's classic The Iceman Cometh at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. We think "Best Revival" is looking like it may be the most fiercely contested category at this year's Tony Awards.

Disney's Frozen Tickets are available now for performances through to December 30, 2018.

Children of a Lesser God Tickets are available now for performances through to September 9, 2018.

The Iceman Cometh Tickets are available now for performances through to July 1, 2018.

March 25

Speaking of great revivals, the National Theatre's production of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize & Tony Award-winning play Angels in America officially opens at the Neil Simon Theatre on March 25. Once again presented in two parts (Part One: Millenium Approaches and Part Two: Perestroika), the production features the majority of London's original cast members, including two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane as Roy Cohn and Oscar & Tony Award nominee Andrew Garfield as Prior Walter, and, although set against the backdrop of the AIDS epidemic in New York City in the mid-1980's, it is as urgently relevant now in our politically charged times as ever.

Angels in America Tickets are available for performances through to July 1, 2018.

March 28

On March 28, the disco comes to town... the Queen of Disco, that is, as Summer: The Donna Summer Musical begins previews at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Three accomplished actresses will play the title role - Tony Award winner LaChanze (as Diva Donna), Ariana DeBose (as Disco Donna), and Storm Lever (as Duckling Donna) - in this biomusical which tells the rise and fall of one of Disco's greatest icons, which includes timeless hits such as "Love to Love You Baby," "Hot Stuff," "Bad Girls," and "MacArthur Park," among many others.

Summer: The Donna Summer Musical Tickets are available now for performances through to November 18, 2018.

March 29

Roundabout Theatre Company's final Broadway offering of its 2017-2018 begins previews at the American Airlines Theatre on March 29. BAFTA Award winner Tom Hollander reprises his Olivier-nominated role as Henry Carr in Tom Stoppard's Tony Award-winning play Travesties, which originated at the acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory in London, before transferring to the West End and now to the Great White Way. It would be a travesty of justice to miss it!

Travesties Tickets are available now for performances through to June 17, 2018.

And that about wraps it up for all the exciting dates to mark in your calendars this month, Broadway fans! We hope we can rest assured that you will all experience a little March madness on the Great White Way and treat yourselves to one or more of the thrilling, new productions on offer. Until next month...
