Look out, Jeremy’s back! Two-time Tony Award nominee Jeremy Jordan will be the next star of Just in Time on Broadway, performing from April 21 to September 6 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. As previously announced, original star Jonathan Groff will depart the production on March 29.
Jordan, known for Broadway performances in Newsies, Floyd Collins, and The Great Gatsby (in which he currently stars through March 7), will assume the role of 20th-century pop star Bobby Darin in the musical about his life and career. The show premiered in spring 2025, and Groff earned a Tony Award nomination for originating the role of Darin.
The current Just in Time cast also includes Sarah Hyland as Connie Francis, Sadie Dickerson as Sandra Dee, Emily Bergl as Nina/Mary, Michele Pawk as Polly, Joe Barbara as Steve Blauner and others, Lance Roberts as Ahmet Ertegun and others, and Caesar Samayoa as Don Kirchner and others.
Alex Timbers directs the critically acclaimed musical, in which the theatre is set up like a nightclub to create a semi-immersive experience. Just in Time is set to Darin’s hit songs, like “Splish Splash,” “Mack the Knife,” and the title track.
During select parts of the show, Groff, as himself, reflects on being a longtime fan of Darin, and it remains to be seen how these elements of the show will be adapted for Jordan.
“I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome Jeremy Jordan to Just in Time — his talent, charisma, and emotional fearlessness make him the perfect artist to step into the role of Bobby Darin,” said Timbers in a statement. “We're excited to tailor the show to Jeremy's many gifts and make a version of the show unique to him. Watching Jeremy bring Bobby’s swagger, vulnerability, and musical brilliance to life on Broadway is going to be electric, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it.”
