Dec 3 - 21, 2024The SoHo Playhouse is an Off-Broadway theatre in New York that dates back to the late 17th century. Its location, now 15 Vandam Street, was formerly the site of colonial mansion Richmond Hill. Richmond Hill served as headquarters for General George Washington and later to Aaron Burr.
The main floor of 15 Vandam Street was transformed into a theatre, which became SoHo Playhouse in the 1920s. Plays by Terrence McNally, AR Gurney, and Sam Shepherd have played there. The SoHo Playhouse is now also a popular venue for comedy shows, having housed famous ones like Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag.
The SoHo Playhouse will open a second location in Las Vegas, Nevada.
SoHo Playhouse is closest to the Spring St. subway stop on the C and E line and Houston St. on the 1 line. The closest bus stop is 6 Av./Spring St. on the M21 and M55 lines.
Popular restaurants near the SoHo Playhouse include Piccola Cucina (Italian), Boqueria Soho (Spanish), The Dutch (American), Lola Taverna (Greek), and 12 Chairs Cafe (Israeli). Dominique Ansel Bakery, which is famous for its cronuts, is also nearby.
