Wicked: Kerry Ellis, currently starring as Elphaba in the London production, is to recreate the role on Broadway
Kerry Ellis, currently starring as Elphaba in the London production of Wicked at London�s Apollo Victoria Theatre, is to make her Broadway debut when she recreates her performance in the Broadway production of the award winning musical.
Ellis will play her final performance in London on 7 Jun 2008 before beginning performances at Broadway�s Gershwin Theatre on 17 June 2008. Following her Broadway engagement, Kerry will return to the London production later in the year.
Kerry Ellis was the first British actor to play Elphaba, receiving rave reviews. Her Theatre credits include playing Fantine in London's Les Miserable, Meatload in We Will Rock you. Ellis understudied Martine McCutcheon in the role of Eliza Doolittle in London's National Theatre production of 'My Fair Lady' - allowing her many opportunities ti play the role due to McCutcheon missing many performances. Ellis played the role Ellen in the UK National tour production of 'Miss Saigon'.
Ellis is currently working on her debut album, which is being produced by Brian May, which will feature songs from Wicked, for release later this year.
Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on the 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003, and is currently booking through to 21 Dec 2008.

Wicked currently features Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba), Annaleigh Ashford (Glinda), Lenny Wolpe (The Wizard), Miriam Margolyes (Madame Morrible), David Burnham (Fiyero), Cristy Candler (Nessarose), Steven Skybell (Doctor Dillamond, Witch�s Father) and Logan Lipton (Boq).
Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.
The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
