Wicked: Alli Mauzey to return as Glinda
Alli Mauzey is to return to the role of 'Glinda' on 16 Oct 2012 in the Broadway company of Wicked. Mauzey assumes the role from Chandra Lee Schwartz who will play her final performance on 14 Oct 2012.
Mauzey has previously played the role on Broadway and on National Tour. Her other Broadway credits include 'Lenora' in 'Cry-Baby' and 'Brenda' in 'Hairspray.'
Additionally, on 25 Sep 2012 F. Michael Haynie will join the company, making his Broadway debut in the role of 'Boq.' He assumes the role from Etai Benshlomo who played his final performance on 23 Sep 2012.
F. Michael Haynie was most recently seen off-Broadway in 'Dogfight' at Second Stage Theatre and 'Carrie' at MCC. He was also seen in 'We The People... '(Off-Broadway, TWUSA) and in David Chase's film "Not Fade Away."
They join a cast which includes Jackie Burns (Elphaba), Adam Grupper (The Wizard), Randy Danson (Madame Morrible), Kyle Dean Massey (Fiyero), Jenny Fellner (Nessarose) and Tom Flynn (Doctor Dillamond).
The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003 and is currently selling tickets through to 2 Jun 2012.
Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.
The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
