'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' names Broadway cast
The play is inspired by the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, taking place 30 years earlier and featuring younger versions of fan-favorite characters.
Welcome to Hawkins! Stranger Things: The First Shadow has announced complete casting for its Broadway production at the Marquis Theatre. Performances begin March 28 ahead of an April 22 opening.
The Stranger Things: The First Shadow cast includes Louis McCartney as Henry Creel, Rosie Benton as Virginia Creel, Alex Breaux as Dr. Brenner, Juan Carlos as Bob Newby, Andrew Hovelson as Principal Newby, Alison Jaye as Joyce Maldonado, Emmy Award nominee T.R. Knight as Victor Creel, Emmy nominee Gabrielle Nevaeh as Patty Newby, Burke Swanson as James Hopper, Jr., Ta’Rea Campbell as Patty’s Mom, Robert T. Cunningham as Charles Sinclair, Ayana Cymone as Sue Anderson, Ian Dolley as Walter Henderson, Dora Dolphin as Karen Childress, Logan Gould as Lonny Byers, Shea Grant as Claudia Yount, Jamie Martin Mann as Ted Wheeler, Ted Koch as Chief Hopper, and Eric Wiegand as Alan Munson.
Rounding out the cast are Janie Brookshire, Kelsey Anne Brown, Malcolm Callender, Antoinette Comer, Tom D'Agustino, Victor de Paula Rocha, Nya Garner, Rebecca Hurd, Timothy Lawrence, Patrick Scott McDermott, Stephen Wattrus, Maya West, and Graham Winton.
Set 30 years before the events of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, this stage play follows teenage versions of fan-favorite characters like Hopper, Joyce, and more, whose small-town life is turned upside down by the arrival of newcomer Henry Creel.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow features a script by Kate Trefry, based on an original story by Trefry, the Duffer Brothers (the creators of the TV show), and Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin co-direct.
The show also has set design by Miriam Buether; costume design by Brigitte Reiffenstuel; lighting design by Jon Clark; sound design by Paul Arditti; original music, orchestrations, arrangements, and supervision by D.J. Walde; illusions design and visual effects by Jamie Harrison and Chris Fisher; video design and visual effects by 59; choreography by Coral Messam; movement direction by Lynne Page; wigs, hair and makeup design by Campbell Young Associates; and technical direction by Gary Beestone for Gary Beestone Associates.
