Nice Work if... to open at the Imperial Theatre

The new musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get It, with music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin, will open at Broadway's Imperial Theatre in April, 2012.

Nice Work If You Can Get It will star two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick ('How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' 'Brighton Beach Memoirs') and three-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara ('South Pacific,' 'The Pajama Game' and 'The Light in the Piazza') and will be directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall ('Anything Goes,' 'The Pajama Game,' 'Wonderful Town').

With a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro (last season's Tony Award-winning 'Memphis,' for which he won Tony awards for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score), Nice Work If You Can Get It will feature songs from the Gershwin catalog, and specifically borrows from their 1926 musical "Oh Kay."

Additional casting and creative team still to be announced.

The press notes decribes the musical as a "Screwball romantic comedy takes place in the 1920s and centers around a wealthy playboy who gets mixed up with a hilarious trio of bootleggers."

The musical is being produced on Broadway by Roger Berlind, Roy Furman, Scott Landis and Sonia Friedman.
