Mauritius: full cast announced.
The Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) have announced the full cast for their upcoming Broadway premiere production of Theresa Rebeck�s Mauritius. Joining the already announced Bobby Cannavale and Alison Pill, are F. Murray Abraham , Dylan Baker and Katie Finneran. Doug Hughes will direct.
The dark comedy will be the first production of MTC�s 2007-2008 season. The production will open at the Biltmore Theatre 4 Oct 2007, following previews from 13 Sep 2007 and run through to 18 Nov 2007.
Jackie (Alison Pill) and Mary (Katie Finneran) are half-sisters whose mother's death leaves them in possession of a rare stamp collection. But which sister actually owns the stamps? Which of three dealers can be trusted with their sale? And where do we choose to live: the present or the past?
Mauritius is a co-production with the Huntington Theatre Company (which this spring received the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production for the world premiere production of the play.
Theresa Rebeck (Playwright) will be making her Broadway debut with Mauritius. Past New York productions include 'The Scene', 'The Water�s Edge', 'Spike Heels', 'Loose Knit', 'The Family of Mann', 'Bad Dates' and 'The Butterfly Collection'.
Doug Hughes (Diector) is currently represented on Broadway with the Tony nominated revival of Inherit The Wind starring Brian Dennehy and Christopher Plummer. He won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for Doubt (2005).
Bobby Cannavale (Dennis) is making his Broadway debut in Mauritius. Cannavale received a 2005 Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his recurring role as Vince D�Angelo, Will Truman�s boyfriend on 'Will & Grace.'
Alison Pill (Jackie) made her Broadway debut in the Atlantic's production of 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' (2006), for which she was nominated for the 2006 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
F. Murray Abraham (Sterling) was last seen on Broadway as Hermocrates in 'Triumph of Love' (1997), he made his Broadway debut in 'The Man in the Glass Booth' (1968). He won an Academy Award, L.A. Film Critics Award, and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of 'Antonio Salieri' in Peter Shaffer's 'Amadeus' (1984).
Dylan Baker (Phillp) was last seen on Broadway as Prince Conty in 'La B�te' (1991) for which he was nominated for the 1991 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play. He made his Broaday debut in Eastern Standard (1989). Baker was honored with a Gotham Award for his starring role as �Bill Maplewood� in the film 'Happiness', directed by Todd Solondz. He can currently be seen in the Spider-Man movies playing 'Professor Dr. Curt Connors'.
Katie Finneran (Mary) was last seen on Broadway palying the role of Brooke Ashton in Noises Off (2001 revival) for which she won the 2002 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play. Finneran played 'Sharon Tyler' in the short-lived Fox television series 'Wonderfalls', and has made appeared in 'Frasier', 'Sex and the City' and 'Oz'.
