Mel Brooks on Broadway will play the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on June 17 and June 18, 2019.
Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning icon Mel Brooks is headed to the Great White Way! The beloved comedian will play two dates, simply titled Mel Brooks on Broadway, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre as part of the 2019 In Residence on Broadway series on June 17 and June 18, 2019.
Synopsis: "Blazing Saddles. Young Frankenstein. The Producers. Mel Brooks has created some of the most iconic comedies in film history, and he is returning to the New York stage for an exclusive two-night engagement. The actor, writer, director, and producer stars in a hilarious unscripted show combining off-the-cuff comedy, unbelievable personal stories, and film clips from some of his most memorable work in Mel Brooks on Broadway, which promises to be a very special evening of unforgettable tales and non-stop laughter."
Brooks is of course no stranger to Broadway, having won three Tony Awards in 2001 for his smash hit The Producers (in the categories of "Best Musical," "Best Book of a Musical," and "Best Original Score"), based on his film of the same name. His other Broadway credits include Young Frankenstein, All American, Shinbone Alley, and Leonard Sillman's New Faces of 1952.
Mel Brooks on Broadway features lighting design by Tony and Emmy Award nominee Mike Baldassari and sound design by five-time Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski and Tony Award nominee Garth Helm.
Other artists set to play residencies at the Lunt-Fontanne during the 2019 series include Morrissey (from May 2 to May 11), Yanni (from May 28 to June 2), Regina Spektor (from June 20 to June 26), and Criss Angel (from July 2 to July 7), with additional artists to be announced in the coming weeks.
