Drew Gehling to join '& Juliet' cast on Broadway

Gehling made his Broadway debut in Jersey Boys in 2009, and most recently starred in the original casts of Almost Famous and Waitress on Broadway.

Drew Gehling will join the cast of & Juliet on Broadway. Gehling will play the role of Shakespeare from August 16, taking over the part from Austin Scott.

Gehling made his Broadway debut in Jersey Boys in 2009, and most recently starred in the original casts of Almost Famous and Waitress on Broadway.

Principal cast members Betsy Wolfe (Anne Hathaway), Ben Jackson Walker (Romeo), Justin David Sullivan (May), and Philippe Arroyo (Francois) will leave the show this October, with new principal casting to be announced soon.

The current cast includes Maya Boyd, Paulo Szot, Betsy Wolfe, Austin Scott, Jeannette Bayardelle, Justin David Sullivan, Ben Jackson Walker, Philippe Arroyo, Daniel Assetta, Andrew Chappelle, Michael Iván Carrier, Phil Colgan, Virgil Gadson, Najah Hetsberger, Makai Hernandez, Bobby “Pocket” Horner, Joomin Hwang, Khailah Johnson, Megan Kane, Alaina Vi Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Brittany Nicholas, Ava Noble, Jasmine Rafael, Matt Raffy, and Tiernan Tunnicliffe.

& Juliet, which premiered in the West End in 2019 before transferring to Broadway, flips the script on William Shakespeare's classic love story Romeo and Juliet, asking what would have happened if Juliet hadn’t ended it all over Romeo.

The full creative team includes David West Read (Book), Max Martin and Friends (Music and Lyrics), Luke Sheppard (Direction), Jennifer Weber (Choreography), Bill Sherman (Musical Supervision, Orchestrations and Arrangements), Soutra Gilmour (Scenic Design), Paloma Young (Costume Design), Howard Hudson (Lighting Design), Gareth Owen (Sound Design), Andrzej Goulding (Video and Projection Design), J. Jared Janas (Hair, Wig & Makeup Design), Dominic Fallacaro (Orchestrations), and Haley Bennett (Music Director).
