The Public Theater has set its summer 2026 Shakespeare for the City programming, including its Free Shakespeare in the Park productions at the Delacorte Theater.

The two Free Shakespeare in the Park plays in 2026 are Romeo and Juliet, directed by Saheem Ali, and The Winter's Tale, directed by Daniel Sullivan. Casting, additional creative team members, and performance dates have yet to be announced.

Also at the Delacorte, in August, will be a Public Works production of a Shakespeare play to be announced. Public Works shows include community members from across NYC as part of the cast alongside professional actors.

The summer season will also include As You Like It, directed by Emma Rosa Went, as the Public's Mobile Unit production. As You Like It will be performed at parks, community centers, and correctional facilities across all five boroughs of NYC.

Tickets to all the above productions will be free. Tickets will become available through various digital and in-person distribution channels, including ticket lotteries, across the city.
