Christopher Robert Evans was born on June 13, 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is best known for his superhero role as Captain America/Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Evans was raised in the town of Sudbury, Massachusetts, and attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City and pursued an acting career while taking classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. His first big break came when he landed the role of Cary Baston in Fox's TV series Opposite Sex in 2000, which led to a breakthrough film role as Jake Wyler in the comedy Not Another Teen Movie in 2001. Evans soon became a regular on the Hollywood scene, starring in films such as The Perfect Score and Cellular in 2004 and Fierce People in 2005.

Evans' fame skyrocketed after he secured the superhero role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, in Twentieth Century Fox's Fantastic Four, released in 2005, with a sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. That same year, Evans also starred in Danny Boyle's sci-fi film Sunshine and voiced the role of Casey Jones in the animated feature TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

Over the next few years, Evans appeared in a string of movies including Street Kings and The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond in 2008, Push in 2009, and The Losers in 2010. He then appeared alongside his Lobby Hero co-star Michael Cera as Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. His Hollywood career reached a high when he secured the role of Captain America/Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, debuting in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. He has since appeared as the character in a number of Marvel films: The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). He has also made cameo appearances as Captain America in Thor: The Dark World (2013), Ant-Man (2015), and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).

In between filming for Marvel, Evans has also appeared in a number of other films including Snowpiercer (2013) and Gifted (2017). He made his directorial debut in 2014's Before We Go.

Evans made his Broadway debut as Bill in the Second Stage Theater production of Kenneth Lonergan's Lobby Hero at the Hayes Theater from March 1 to May 13, 2018.
