YANK! new musical to star Bobby Steggert



Bobby Steggert will enlist in the Off-Broadway premiere of Yank!, a new musical with music by Joseph Zellnik and book and lyrics by David Zellnik. Steggert, who originated the role of 'Stu' in an early production of the musical, will played his final performance as 'Younger Brother' in the Broadway revival of Ragtime which closed on 10 Jan 2010.

"We are thrilled to welcome Bobby back to the cast of Yank! after his sensational performance in Ragtime," said The York Theatre Company's Producing Artistic Director, James Morgan.

Yank! opens at the Theatre at Saint Peter's on 24 Feb 2010, following previews from 16 Feb, and s currently selling tickets through to 21 Mar 2010.

Honors for Yank! include a GLAAD Media Award nomination, a NYMF Audience Award for Best Musical and the New York Innovative Theater Award for Outstanding Musical Production. Performances begin February 16th at The Theatre at Saint Peter's (Enter on 54th Street, Just East of Lexington) Opening Night is set for February 24th at 7:00 p.m. The production will be directed by Igor Goldin.

Set during World War II, Yank! chronicles the relationship between two servicemen long before "Don't-ask-don't-tell" was part of the national discussion. With a lively score inspired by the pop sounds of the 1940's, Yank! captures the spirit and exuberance of the era as it explores questions of prejudice, courage and survival.

In addition to Goldin, the creative team for Yank! includes music direction by John Baxindine, choreography by Jeffry Denman and set design by Ray Klausen. Additional casting and creative team members will be announced soon.

The show is produced by arrangement with Pamela Koslow, Maren Berthelsen, and Stuart Wilk in association with Matt Schicker.
