Trip Of Love to shutter at Stage 42 on 7 August 2016
Producers of the 1960s-themed Dance Musical Trip Of Love have announced that the production will play its final performance at off-Broadway's Stage 42 on 7 August 2016. It had previously been booking through to 4 September 2016. Upon closing, the musical will have played a total of 24 previews and 335 regular performances, making it the longest-running show at Stage 42.
In addition, the previously announced limited nine-week engagement of Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love, which was scheduled to begin yesterday, has now been reduced to the final four performances (5 to 7 August 2016) of the off-Broadway run.
Ms Love previously commented:
"What a fun show! When I saw the show, the audience was waving their arms and singing along. They had a grand time. I remember all those classic songs. The lyrics are meaningful and help tell the story. I did sing on a number of them. They are not from records that I made, but I am really looking forward to putting my own signature on 'Moon River,' 'Both Sides Now' and so many others."Darlene Love has appeared on the Great White Way in 'Hairspray,' 'Grease,' 'Carrie,' and 'Leader of the Pack.' She is also known for the "20 Feet from Stardom" Oscar-winning documentary and for appearing in the "Lethal Weapon" movie franchise.
The principal cast of Trip Of Love currently includes (in alphabetical order) Joey Calveri, David Elder, Kelly Felthous, Bahiyah Hibah, Austin Miller, Tara Palsha Moats and "Dance Moms" star Nia Sioux.
Trip Of Love is created, directed and choreographed by James Walski and features 25 of the biggest hits of the 1960s.
The off-Broadway premiere began previews at Stage 42 (formerly the Little Shubert Theatre) on 26 September 2015, before an official opening on 18 October.
Synopsis: "American pop culture is still pulsing with the psychedelic energy of the Sixties, an era of expression and revolution around the world.
