Time Stands Still extends run by one week

Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway production of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Donald Margulies' Time Stands Still, extends its run by one week and will now play through to 27 Mar 2010.

Time Stands Still opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on 28 Jan 2010, following previews from 5 Jan. Before the start of previews, the play was extended for two weeks based on demand for tickets.

The musical opened to mostly positive reviews: A flawless ... production (NY Times); Journey holds our interest, destination is disappointing (Backstage); A major... dramatic experience (Record); Smart, stylish, timely (AP).

Time Stands Still: Are we supposed to deny ourselves ordinary happiness because there's misery in the world? James and Sarah (Linney), a journalist and a photographer, have been together for nine years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war. But when injuries force them to return home to New York, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life.

Directed by Daniel Sullivan, the production features Eric Bogosian, Brian d'Arcy James, Laura Linney and Alicia Silverstone.
