'The Uncertainty Principle' a playreading.

A stage reading of Bethany Larsen's new play The Uncertainty Principle, is being given at the Jewel Box Theatre on Tuesday 30 Nov 2004

Synopsis: Heisenbergs Uncertainty Principle says that on a subatomic level, you can either know how fast a particle is moving, or where it is in space, but you cant know both with any certainty at any one time. Taking that principle and expanding it to a life-sized theory, playwright Bethany Larsens has created a new play The Uncertainty Principle. The play follows Cassies journey as she tries to make sense of her life after she loses everything in a fire. Aided by a circus ringmaster with a penchant for physics and a potential new love, Cassie takes a walk through her life to see if it really is possible to have it all.

The playreading is directed by Michael Kimmel and produced by The Milk Can Theatre Company as part of their monthly reading series 'Scene Herd Uddered'. 'Scene Herd Uddered' playreadings are not actors sitting in chairs simply reading a script. Instead, each presentation is the culmination of four weeks of intense developmental work.

At the beginning of each month The Milk Can Theatre Company give a team composed of a playwright, a director and a group of actors a budget, rented space in which to show their work, a stage manager, publicity, and a support staff of dramaturgs. The Milk Can Theatre company says "At a time when the arts scene is so financially austere, this is a rare opportunity for emerging artists to spend an entire month developing a project together, without the intense pressures and constraints usually associated with the production of a new play. We gladly push teams to take huge creative risks and stretch the boundaries, rather than driving towards a neat, traditional end product."

Suggested donation $10. Discussion with playwright Bethany Larsen and director Michael Kimmel after the performance.
