The Merchant of Venice at Duke On 42nd Street


Theatre for a New Audience presents The Merchant of Venice, by William Shakespeare, opening at Duke On 42nd Street on 4 Feb 2007, following previews from 6 Jan and running through to 11 Mar 2007.

The play is performed in repertory with Christopher Marlowe's The Jew of Malta.

The Merchant of Venice: A mysteriously melancholy rich man, a dashing young lover in desperate need of cash, a moneylender with good reason to seek revenge, and a witty young woman with a knack for disguise.

Directed by Darko Tresnjak, The Merchant of Venice has a cast of fourteen featuring F. Murray Abraham, Kate Forbes.

Set Design by John Lee Beatty, with costumes by Linda Cho and lighting by David Weiner.
