The Long Christmas Dinner & The New York Christmas Carol at the Blue Heron Arts Center
New York Theatre Experiment (NYTE) presents the double bill : The Long Christmas Dinner & The New York Christmas Carol at the Blue Heron Arts Center from the 8 - 18 Dec 2005.
The first act: The Long Christmas Dinner, by Thornton Wilder and directed by Glenn Peters, is about the timelessness of familial bonds, we see ninety years pass before our eyes in under an hour. Christmas dinners come and go in the Bayard home, as does life and death. This dramatic, touching, nostalgic piece reminds us what we cherish about the holidays with our own families and how quickly time passes in the blink of an eye.
The Second Act: The New York Christmas Carol, adapted by the NYTE from Dickeh's classic novel, tells the story of Eloise Scrooge, a cold, ruthless business woman, top of the fashion industry in New York City. This Christmas, her perspective on the human condition will change when she is visited on Christmas eve by her deceased mother, Judith Marley-Scrooge, and warned of the grusome fate that will befall her if she does not heed the warnings of the three ghosts who will take her on a journey through the ups and downs of New York City at Christmas time. A farcical and touching new exploration of the classic Dickens tale!
The cast features: Casey Burns (Cousin Brandon, Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come), Nicholas J. Coleman (Charles, Ben), Emberli Edwards (Ermengarde, Ghost of Christmas Past), Laura Gale (Leonora, Eloise Scrooge), Amy Hattemer (Genevieve, Tiny Tina), Kevin Hoffman (Roderick, Bob Cratchit), Allyson Morgan (Lucia, Judith Marley-Scrooge), Scott Price (Sam, Ghost of Christmas Present).
The Long Christmas Dinner & The New York Christmas Carol has sets by Creighton James, costumes by Amy Elizabeth Bravo, lighting by Anjeanette Stokes and sound by Niki Hayes.
