The Exonerated: further casting announced



Culture Project have announced more rotating cast members for their tenth anniversary production of The Exonerated, which is now closing on 2 Dec 2012.

Anthony Arkin, Keir Dullea and Carol Kane will join the company from 6 - 11 Nov 2012, with Marsha Mason joining the cast from 13 - 18 Nov 2012.

They will join the shows non-rotating cast which features Jim Bracchitta (Prosecutor 2), Amelia Campbell (Sandra Cook), Bruce Kronenberg (Prosecutor 1), Curtis McClarin (David Keaton), April Yvette Thompson (Georgia Hayes) and JD Williams (Robert Earl Hayes.

Written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, and directed by Bob Balaban, The Exonerated, the 10th anniversary production opened at the Bleecker Theater on 19 Sep 2012, following previews from 15 Sep, and will end its limited seven-week engagement on 4 Nov 2012.

The rotating cast will welcome Steve Earle ("The Revolution Starts...Now," Grammy Award), John Forté ("The Score," Grammy nominee), Kathryn Grody (Scapino), Marg Helgenberger ("CSI"), Christine Lahti (God of Carnage), Richard Masur (This is Fiction), Joe Morton (Raisin), Martin Short (The Goodbye Girl), Danton Stone (Ivan in Art), Frank Whaley ("Blue Bloods") and exoneree Kerry Max Cook, whose story is shared in the play.

The Exonerated, a dramatization of the real-life stories of six individuals who were sentenced to death and later freed amidst overwhelming evidence of their innocence. The play is culled from interviews, letters, transcripts, case files and court records of individuals on death row.

The production opened to mostly good reviews: This is disturbing and haunting material (newyorktheatreguide); Still has the power to unsettle (NY Times); These stories will touch your heart (Back Stage).

The show is produced off-Broadway by the Culture Project, in special association with The Innocence Project.
