Tanguera: The Tango Musical tells a story of unrequited love in turn-of-the-20th-century Buenos Aires through a combination of song, music, and dance.
In this erotic and sensual musical, a young French girl, deceived by a prostitution ring arrives in Argentina at the Port of Buenos Aires, and meets the dockworker Lorenzo, an idealist and dreamer. Life transforms them. She becomes a cabaret star and he must decide to face destiny and conquer his love.
Tanguera: The Tango Musical opened on 8 Jan 2002 at the El Nacional de Buenos Aires Theatre, where the most successful musicals in Argentina have been presented. With more than thirty actors on stage, Tanguera reached an audience of over 220,000 people.
It received five awards from the Asociacion de Cronistas del Espectaculo de la Argentina (Association of Argentine Entertainment Industry Reporters) for Best Musical, Best Production, Best Choreography, Best Lighting and Best Female Performance.
Tanguera was performed at Santiago, Chile's opera house successfully attracting an audience of 15,000 people in only 10 performances. After the performances in Chile, Tanguera was invited to the opening of the New Alcala Theatre in Madrid, where it ran for three months.
From 2003 Tanguera has been performing to audiences in China, Mexico City, tours in Argentina and Mexico, Tokyo as well as return engagements in Buenos Aires and Santiago to name a few.
