On May 16, the Outer Critics Circle announced the winners of its 72nd annual awards in recognition of the 2022-23 Broadway and Off-Broadway season. The Outer Critics Circle, comprised of critics and writers for out-of-town newspapers and publications, will present the awards at a ceremony on May 25. For the first time in the organization’s history, this year’s awards removed gender specifications and included Off-Broadway performers.

Top winners include Some Like It Hot with five nominations and Leopoldstadt with two nods. In addition to the competitive awards, the Outer Critics Circle recognized fight director B.H. Barry with a Special Achievement Award. Barry’s fight choreography is currently on display in Camelot at Lincoln Center Theater.
