Mischief Theatre, the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong, returns with its latest Broadway show, Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Get Peter Pan Goes Wrong tickets on New York Theatre Guide.
Peter Pan Goes Wrong is a play within a play, as the show is set at a performance of J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan, put on by the fictional Cornley Drama Society. But their journey through Neverland isn't so smooth. The players run into one mid-show mishap after another, and it's questionable whether they'll even make it through the show. While this would spell doom at any other show, at Peter Pan Goes Wrong, all this trouble makes for clever slapstick comedy and nonstop laughs.
The Cornley Drama Society are also at the center of Mischief Theatre's other New York hit, The Play That Goes Wrong. That show, in which the troupe struggles through an original murder mystery play, premiered in London's West End in 2012 and on Broadway in 2017. It is still running in both cities, though in 2019, The Play That Goes Wrong moved off Broadway.
Peter Pan Goes Wrong premiered just after The Play That Goes Wrong, in 2013. Since then, the show has played twice in London's West End (where it earned an Olivier Award nomination for Best New Comedy), adapted into a TV special, and made its North American debut in Edmonton, Canada in 2022.
Creators Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields all appear in the cast of Peter Pan Goes Wrong on Broadway. They are joined by the rest of the original 2013 company: Chris Leask, Ellie Morris, Charlie Russell, Greg Tannahill and Nancy Zamit.
Adam Meggido, who helmed the show's previous productions, returns to direct.
Mischief Theatre is a company created by Lewis, Sayer, and Shields during their time in college. Since its founding in 2008, the company has created numerous comedy shows, including The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong. Most of their shows debut in London; others include The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, Groan Ups, and Magic Goes Wrong.
