Sarah Silverman’s ‘The Bedwetter’ and ‘Kimberly Akimbo’ musical in Atlantic Theater Company season

In-person performances will begin from August 2021.

The Atlantic Theater Company will reopen this August, with five in-person productions scheduled as part of their reopening seasons. The Bedwetter will finally receive its stage premiere, with new works by Ngozi Anyanwu, Clare Baron, David Linsday-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori also confirmed.

Inspired by Sarah Silverman's memoir of the same name, The Bedwetter dramatizes Silverman's childhood while revealing her secrets. Silverman and Joshua Harmon co-wrote the book, with Harmon's Prayers for a French Republic scheduled to open at New York City Center in early 2022. Music is by the late Adam Schlesinger, who had also written music for a potential Broadway adaptation of The Nanny. Find out more about The Nanny here.

Anne Kauffman directs, with choreography by Byron Easley. The Bedwetter casting is to be announced, but the Tony-winning actress Stephanie J. Block was due to play Beth Ann. The Bedwetter is at Linda Gross Theater from April 30 - Jun. 16, 2022.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lindsay-Abaire's 2000 play of the same name, Kimberly Akimbo has now been adapted into a musical, with music by Jeanine Tesori. Kimberly Akimbo follows the title character, a New Jersey teen with the face of a septuagenarian that navigates the cops and her family. Jessica Stone directs the production, with choreography by Danny Mefford.Kimberly Akimbo is at the Linda Gross Theatre from November 5 - December 26.

Ngozi Anyanwu's The Last of the Love Letters kicks off the season, with performances at the Linda Gross Theater from August 26 - September 26. Patricia McGregor directs the romantic two-hander, as they contemplate what they love, and whether they should continue pursuing their feelings or walk away.

2022 kicks off with the world premiere of Clare Barron's SHHHHH, running at Atlantic Stage 2 from January 12 - February 13. Barron stars and directs in her latest play, exploring themes of trauma and revenge between four people.

In a co-production with Roundabout Theatre Company's Roundabout Underground, Knud Adams directs Sanaz Toossi's English. Set in Iran, English centres on four adult students learning English as a foreign language through listening exercises and word games. English is at the Linda Gross Theater from February 3 - March 13.
