Roundabout Theatre Company confirms Broadway return in Fall 2021

Shows coming to Broadway include Caroline, or Change and 1776.

After a prolonged suspension of all Broadway shows, Roundabout Theatre Company have announced a timeline of their upcoming productions. Information on eight shows has been released, with performances scheduled through to spring 2022.

"While we are disappointed to put the shows off again, we're busy filling the expanded gap in time by providing arts education for NYC students and teachers, and increasing our efforts to find opportunities for artists through our myriad off-stage programs." said Roundabout Artistic Director Todd Haimes.

In fall 2021, the long-awaited revival of Caroline, or Change will begin performances at Studio 54. Sharon D. Clarke will reprise her Olivier Award-winning performance to make her Broadway debut. Caroline, or Changewas due to open earlier this year, with a cast including Caissie Levy and John Cariani.

Trouble In Mind will debut at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre in fall 2021, as previously scheduled. Exploring the impact of racism in American theatre, casting for Alice Childress' play is to be announced.

The Broadway revival of 1776 will open in spring 2022, directed by Jeffrey L. Page and Diane Paulus. Dramatising the battle for American independence, the Tony Award-winning musical follows John Adams as he persuades Congress to vote.

Roundabout Theatre Company have also announced plans for off-Broadway productions. ... what the end will be will open in fall 2021, centering around three generations of black, gay men all living together. Exception To The Rule will also run in fall 2021, following a group of students stuck in a room together.

Previously announced Roundabout Theatre Club productions will be staged at a future date. These include Birthday Candles starring Debra Messing, The Wanderers and English.
