1776

Roundabout Theatre Company, in association with the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University, presents a Broadway revival of the Tony Award-winning musical 1776, directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus. 1776 will be one of two Broadway musicals running that is inspired by revolutionary America. The other is of course Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton, currently at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

1776 will receive an out of town tryout at the American Repertory Theater from May 2022.

Performances are expected to begin at the American Airlines Theatre in fall 2022.

About 1776:

They knew they would make history, but not what history would make of them. Fed up with living under the tyranny of British rule, John Adams attempts to persuade his fellow members of the Continental Congress to vote in favor of American Independence and sign the Declaration. But how much is he willing to compromise in the pursuit of freedom? And who does that freedom belong to? This new production of the Tony Award-winning musical re-examines this pivotal moment in American history.
