About 1776:

They knew they would make history, but not what history would make of them. Fed up with living under the tyranny of British rule, John Adams attempts to persuade his fellow members of the Continental Congress to vote in favor of American Independence and sign the Declaration. But how much is he willing to compromise in the pursuit of freedom? And who does that freedom belong to? This new production of the Tony Award-winning musical re-examines this pivotal moment in American history.

June 26, 2020

Roundabout Theatre Company announced an update to its upcoming season on Broadway, with the second postponement of two productions and an additional production. The company has added the Broadway debut of Alice Childress's Trouble in Mind, directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, to the season's lineup. Known as a founding member of the American Negro Theatre, Childress was the first Black woman to be produced professionally in New York with her play Gold Through the Trees in 1952. Trouble in Mind will open at the American Airlines Theatre in winter 2021/22.
