Rafta Rafta, extends its run by one week


The New Group's American premiere of Ayub Khan-Din's Rafta Rafta extends its run by one week, and will now play through to 28 Jun 2008.

The comic-drama opened at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre on 8 May 2008, following previews from 18 Apr and was originally scheduled to close on 21 Jun 2008.

Rafta Rafta is a comic-drama adaptation of Bill Naughton's 1963 play 'All in Good Time.' It tells the story of two Anglo-Indian families in London joined by the marriage of their children. Newlyweds Atul and Vina are starting their new lives under the groom's parents roof, and Vina's family is also loathe to let her go. How much scrutiny can a new marriage take?

Directed by Scott Elliott, Rafta Rafta features Sarita Choudhury, Ranjit Chowdhry, Sean T. Krishnan, Alison Wright, Alok Tewari, Reshma Shetty, Manish Dayal, Satya Bhabha, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Sakina Jaffrey.

Rafta Rafta was nominated for an Oliver Award when it had its highly acclaimed world premiere at London's National Theatre in 2007.

Playwright Ayub Khan-Din first play 'East is East' was adapted into a movie and was awarded the 1999 BAFTA for Best British comedy film. 'East of East also had its American Premiere staged by The New Group and direted by Scott Elliott, in 1999.
