Fri 13 Aug 2004 'Pacific Overtures' announces full cast. The Roundabout Theatre Company have announced the full cast for their production of Pacific Overtures at Studio 54. This is the musical's first broadway revival since it originally premiered at the Winter Garden on January 11, 1976 Pacific Overtures by John Weidman & Stephen Sondheim opens 2 Dec 2004 at Studio 54, following previews from 12 Nov 2004 Cast: B.D. Wong, Eric Bondoc, Evan DAngeles, Joseph Anthony Foronda, Yoko Fumoto, Alvin Y. F. Ing, Fred Isozaki, Francis Jue, Darren Lee, Hoon Lee, Michael K. Lee, Ming Lee, Telly Leung, Paolo Montalban, Alan Muraoka, Mayumi Omagari, Hazel Anne Raymundo, Yuka Takara, Kim Varhola, Scott Watanabe It is directed by Amon Miyamoto , designed by Rumi Matsui, lighting by Brian MacDevitt, with costumes by Junko Koshino. Spanning 150 years, Pacific Overtures tells the story of Commodore Matthew Perry's arrival in the Floating Kingdomof Nippon in 1853. The musical chronicles the influence America had upon Japan, detailing and dramatizing the westernization of Japanese culture. The style of the musical is based on ancient forms of Japanese theatre such as Kabuki and Noh.
