Producer, Talk Show Legend and Actress Oprah Winfrey has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that her long-awaited Broadway debut will NOT be in a revival production of Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize winning play 'Night Mother, as previously reported. Winfrey was eyeing a debut opposite six-time Tony winner Audra McDonald in a revival, which would be directed by Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe and expected to arrive at some point during the 2015/16 season.

"I just didn't want to be in the space of suicide every night for six months," Winfrey admitted to The Hollywood Reporter. "I'd like something with a happier ending."

However, Ms Winfrey is still in discussions to star in one of two possible (and yet unnamed plays), but with no confirmation of a time frame, it looks like we may have to wait just a little bit longer for the Queen of the American Talk Show to grace the Great White Way.

Oprah Winfrey has hosted her own Emmy-Award winning Talk Show 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' for the last twenty five years, and recently starred in a BAFTA-nominated performance as Gloria Gaines in the film 'The Butler', as well as Annie Lee Cooper in 'Selma.' She also starred in the 1985 movie 'The Color Purple,' for which she received an Oscar and a Golden Globe nomination. She went on to co-produce the stage musical version of 'The Color Purple' in 2005, and will once again co-produce the upcoming Jennifer Hudson-led Broadway revival.
