Mitchell Jarvis returns to Rock of Ages from 15 Sep 2014
Original cast member Mitchell Jarvis, who originated the role of Lonny on Broadway, returns to the cast of Rock of Ages from 15 September 2014 at the Helen Hayes Theatre. This time, Mr Jarvis will be taking over the role of rock icon Stacee Jaxx from current cast member Joey Calveri.
The principal cast of Rock of Ages currently includes Constantine Maroulis as Drew, Carrie St. Louis as Sherrie, Joey Calveri as Stacee Jaxx, Genson Blimline as Lonny, Adam Dannheisser as Dennis, Cody Scott Lancaster as Franz, Josephine Rose Roberts as Regina, Paul Schoeffler as Hertz and Teresa Stanley as Justice.
Jarvis created the role of narrator Lonny in the original cast of the five-time Tony Award nominated musical comedy that opened on Broadway on 7 April 2009 at the Brooks Atkinson, where it previewed from 17 March 2009. The show played its final performance at the Brooks Atkinson on 9 January 2011, it then resumed performances at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre on 24 March 2011, where it is currently booking through to 4 January 2015.
Jarvis made his Broadway debut as Yakov in the 2004 revival of 'Fiddler on the Roof'.
Rock of Ages opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to mixed reviews: "A seriously silly, absurdly enjoyable arena-rock musical" (New York Times), "An irresistible, offbeat trip of a show that hits all the right notes." The show is written by Chris D'Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine. It features Scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Jason Lyons and sound design by Peter Hylenski.
Rock of Ages is produced on Broadway by Matthew Weaver, Carl Levin, Jeff Davis, Barry Habib, Scott Prisand, and Corner Store Fund I, in association with Janet Billig Rich, Hillary Weaver, Toni Habib, Stefany & Simon Bergson, Charles Rolecek, Susanne Brook, Israel Wolfson, Max Gottlieb, Jennifer Maloney and Prospect Pictures.
The musical was adapted into a comedy musical film which was released in Jun 2012. Directed by Adam Shankman, it stars Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin and Tom Cruise.
