Mary Broome at the Mint Theater from 18 Aug 2012
The Mint Theater will present the first-ever New York revival of Allan Monkhouse's 1911 comedy Mary Broome. The comedy will open on at the Mint Theater on 10 Sep 2012, following previews from 18 Aug 2012, and play through 14 Oct 2012.
Monkhouse's biting comedy tells the story of a household turned upside down by an upstairs/downstairs liaison. Mary Broome, the housemaid, is pregnant by Leonard, the wayward son—and everyone is eager to do the right thing—if only they knew what that was.
Directed by the Mint Theater's artistic director Jonathan Bank, the cast for Mary Broome will star Rod Brogan, Janie Brookshire, Katie Fabel, Kristin Griffith, Roderick Hill, Julie Jesneck, Patricia Kilgarriff, Graeme Malcolm, Douglas Rees, Erica Swindell and Jill Tanner.
The creative team features set design by Roger Hanna, costume design by Martha Hally, lighting design by Nicole Pearce, sound design by Jane Shaw.
Mary Broome premiered in 1911 at Manchester's Gaiety Theatre and quickly moved to London. Its only New York production was in 1919 at the Neighborhood Playhouse on Grand St.
