LCT announces 2 off-Broadway productions for 2018
Lincoln Center Theater has announced two further productions for its 2017-2018 season:
Joshua Harmon's new play Admissions, directed by Daniel Aukin, will begin previews at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater on February 15, 2018, before an official opening on March 12.
Synopsis: "Sherri Rosen-Mason is head of the admissions department at The Hillcrest School, fighting to diversify the student body. And alongside her husband, the school's Headmaster, they've largely succeeded in bringing a stodgy institution into the twenty-first century. But when their only son sets his sights on an Ivy League university, personal ambition collides with progressive values, with convulsive results. Admissions is a new play that explodes the ideals and contradictions of liberal white America."
The creative team behind Admissions features scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Toni Leslie-James, lighting design by Mark Barton, and sound design by Ryan Rumery.
Secondly, the LCT3 production of Martyna Majok's new play queens, directed by Danya Taymor, will begin previews at the Claire Tow Theater on February 10, 2018, before an official opening on February 26 and a limited run through to March 25, 2018.
Synopsis: "In queens, the lives of two generations of immigrant women collide in a basement apartment. When the choices they've made about their security, dignity, and desires come back to haunt them, they must ask: what cannot - and should not - be left behind?"
The creative team behind queens features scenic design by Laura Jellinek, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Matt Frey, and sound design by Stowe Nelson.
Casting for both productions will be announced at a later date.
As part of its 2017-2018 season, Lincoln Center Theater will also present the Broadway premiere of Ayad Akhtar's Junk, starring Steven Pasquale, and the Broadway revival of Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady, directed by Bartlett Sher, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, as well as Sarah DeLappe's The Wolves at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater and the LCT3 production of Zoe Kazan's After the Blast at the Claire Tow Theater.
