'Kabbalah' extends to the 28 Jan 2006
Kabbalah, a mystical comedy about the nature of faith by Tuvia Tenenbom, extends at the Triad Theate to the 28 Jan 2006, the show had been booking to the 24 Dec 2005.
The comedy, presented by the Jewish Theater of New York, opened at the Triad Theatre on the 19 Nov 2005, following previews from the 15 Nov.
Kabbalah is equally inspired by both the history of Kabbalists and the red string bracelet trend that has taken hold of everyone from Britney Spears to Wal-Mart shoppers, Tenenbom's Kabbalah aims to explore the traditions of this mystical Jewish faith, its applications and metamorphoses in the modern world, as well as resulting implications for both the religion and its devotees.
The comedy questions the zealous interpretations of present day religious leaders and features an in-need-of-salvation Madonna as one of its lead characters.
Kabbalah pokes fun at the cost of membership ($4 for Kabbalah water and $200 for the cleansing of sin), questions the zealous interpretations of present day religious leaders and features an in-need-of-salvation Madonna as one of its lead characters.
In Kabbalistic fashion, the late shows are intended to inspire 'Tikkun Hatsot,' the midnight meditations that Jewish mystics delight in.
