Ivanov: Postpones opening night to 15 Nov 2012

The Classic Stage Company's (CSC) revival of Anton Chekhov's Ivanov, translated by Carol Rocamora, which recently announced it would open on 15 Nov 2012, has now moved its opening forward to 11 Nov 2012.

The Classic Stage Company moved its original opening date from 4 Nov 2012, after losing power for a week as a result of the blackout caused by Hurricane Sandy which left parts of Manhattan in the dark.

The show, which began previews on 17 Oct 2012 will still close on 9 Dec 2012 as originally announced.

Once a man of limitless promise, Ivanov is plunged into debt. His marriage is in crisis, and his evenings are spent negotiating loans, avoiding love affairs and fighting to resist the small town jealousies and intrigues which threaten to engulf his life.

Directed by Austin Pendleton the cast features Ethan Hawke (Nikolai Ivanov), Joely Richardson (Anna), Glenn Fitzgerald (Borkin), Roberta Maxwell (Zinaida), George Morfogen (Shabelsky), Juliet Rylance (Sasha), Jonathan Marc Sherman (Lvov) and Austin Pendleton (Lebedev).

The creative team features set design by Santo Loquasto, costumes by Marco Piemon, lighting by Keith Parham and sound by Ryan Rumery.
