Ian McKellen and Ambassador Theatre Group Productions have announced that McKellen will return to the Great White Way for one night only later this year. The iconic British actor is scheduled to perform at the Hudson Theatre for a one-off performance of Ian McKellen On Stage: With Tolkien, Shakespeare, Others ...And You! on November 5, 2019.

Throughout his career, McKellen has established himself as one of the twentieth-century's greatest actors, winning a Tony award for "Best Actor in a Play" for his performance in Amadeus. He returns to Broadway after starring in a 2013 revival of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot alongside Patrick Stewart. Recent performing credits including a sold-out run as the titular role in King Lear at London's Duke of Yorks Theatre, with film credits including Gandalf in "The Lord of the Rings" films and Magneto in the "X-Men" franchize.

Ahead of the production's Broadway performance, Ian McKellen commented: "This year I've been having the time of my life, touring my new Show across the UK. Now it will be an extra treat to return to Broadway 50 years after my debut in New York City, especially as it will benefit the inspirational work of Only Make Believe. Please come and help me celebrate!"

All proceeds from the performance will be raising money for Only Make Believe, a charity that looks to create and devise theatre for chronically ill and disabled children.

Sean Mathias directs the one-man production, produced by Ambassador Theatre Group.
