Heathers The Musical off Broadway has set a closing date of November 8, after breaking the New World Stages house record four times.
Based on the cult-classic 1989 film, Heathers The Musical follows Westerberg High student Veronica Sawyer who goes from nobody to somebody when popular girl clique The Heathers takes her under their wing. Mysterious new kid J.D. piques her interest, however, and Veronica learns that climbing the social ladder can have dangerous and even deadly consequences.
"Boy, when Heathers takes flight, it punches a hole through the roof," New York Theatre Guide’s critic wrote.
The current cast is led by Isabella Esler as Veronica Sawyer; John Cardoza as Jason “J.D.” Dean; Zan Berube as Heather Chandler; Jackera Davis as Heather Duke; Ava DeMary as Heather McNamara; Jeannette Bayardelle as Ms. Fleming/Veronica’s Mom; Erin Morton as Martha Dunnstock through July 6, with Aniya Thompson starting July 8; Chris Marsh Clark as Ram Sweeney; Cade Ostermeyer as Kurt Kelly; Adam Bashian as Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean/Coach Ripper and Jimmy Ray Bennett as Kurt’s Dad/Veronica’s Dad/Principal Gowan.
The show also features a book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness The Musical) & Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde The Musical, Bat Boy The Musical), based on the film by Daniel Waters. The production is directed by Andy Fickman.
