Annelise van der Pol and more join 'Heathers The Musical' cast

Based on the hit film by Daniel Waters, Heathers follows high school student Veronica Sawyer as she is taken under the wing of the "Heathers" popular clique.

How very! Heathers The Musical has announced casting updates for its production, which is in its final extension at New World Stages. The show continues through November 8.

Taking over from September 9 are Anneliese van der Pol (That's So Raven) as Ms. Fleming/Veronica’s Mom (who remains in the cast through October 26, when Kate Rockwell returns for the final week), Morgan Dudley (Hadestown) as Heather Duke, and Nicholas A. Wilkinson as Kurt Kelly. Current cast member Jimmy Ray Bennett, who plays Kurt’s Dad/Veronica’s Dad/Principal Gowan, will now star as Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean/Coach Ripper, and original cast member Brian Martin returns to the company as Kurt’s Dad/Veronica’s Dad/Principal Gowan.

Current cast members Jeannette Bayardelle (Ms. Fleming/Veronica’s Mom), Jackera Davis (Heather Duke), Cade Ostermeyer (Kurt Kelly) and Adam Bashian (Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean/Coach Ripper) will play their final performances on September 6.

Featuring book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, and based on the hit film by Daniel Waters, Heathers follows high school student Veronica Sawyer as she joins Westerberg High and is taken under the wing of the 'Heathers'. When she gets caught up in a new relationship with teen rebel J.D., she discovers the price of popularity. Andy Fickman directs.

The cast also includes Isabella Esler as Veronica Sawyer; John Cardoza as Jason “J.D.” Dean; Zan Berube as Heather Chandler; Jackera Davis as Heather Duke through September 6; Ava DeMary as Heather McNamara; Jeannette Bayardelle as Ms. Fleming/Veronica’s Mom through September 6; Aniya Thompson as Martha Dunnstock; Chris Marsh Clark as Ram Sweeney; Cade Ostermeyer as Kurt Kelly through September 6; Adam Bashian as Ram’s Dad/Big Bud Dean/Coach Ripper through September 6; and Jimmy Ray Bennett as Kurt’s Dad/Veronica’s Dad/Principal Gowan through September 6.

The creative team includes Choreographer/UK Associate Director Gary Lloyd, with Additional Choreography by Stephanie Klemons, Set and Costume Designer David Shields, Lighting Designer Ben Cracknell, Sound Designer Dan Samson, Hair Designer is Caitlin Molloy, Fight Director Lisa Connell, Intimacy Coordinator Rebecca Reaney, Music Supervisor Will Joy, Music Director Josh Kight, and Arrangements and Orchestrations by Laurence O’Keefe and Ben Green.
