Collected Stories plays final performance

Manhattan Theatre Club Broadway premiere of Donald Margulies' two hander play Collected Stories plays its final performance on Broadway on 13 Jun 2010 as scheduled. The show played 21 previews and 55 regular performances.

Collected Stories opened at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on 28 Apr 2010, following previews from 9 Apr, for a limited engagement through to 13 Jun 2010.

The show opened to mixed reviews: Splendid new production (NY Daily News); A solid piece of theatrical craftsmanship (AP); It's skillful, diverting stuff; (Time Out NT); Lordy, lordy, what a boring play it is (Variety).

Directed by Lynne Meadow, Collected Stories starred Golden Globe nominee Sarah Paulson ('Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip') and Tony Award winner Linda Lavin (Broadway Bound).

Collected Stories chronicles the relationship between two female writers: Ruth Steiner (Lavin), a celebrated New York author with a dry wit and a distinguished career; and her bright-eyed young protégé, Lisa Morrison (Paulson). As their relationship evolves and the line between fact and fiction starts to blur, their story comes to an explosive conclusion.

The design team for Collected Stories includes Santo Loquasto (Scenic Design), Jane Greenwood (Costume Design), Natasha Katz (Lighting Design), and Obadiah Eaves (Sound Design).

Collected Stories played its British premiere at London's Haymarket Theatre from the 15 Nov 1999 - 5 Feb 2000, it was directed by Howard Davies and starred Helen Mirren as 'Ruth' and Anne-Marie Duff as 'Lisa .'
