Cat Cohen's 'Broad Strokes' to premiere off Broadway this summer
The solo comedy show with music will play at the Lucille Lortel Theatre for eight weeks only this summer, directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers.
Comedian Cat Cohen (The Twist…She’s Gorgeous, Only Murders in the Building) will premiere her solo comedy show Broad Strokes off Broadway this summer, running from July 14 to September 5 only at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Opening night is July 27.
Cohen, who suffered a stroke at 30 due to a hole in her heart, transforms this near-death experience into a show that explores mortality, hypochondria, and the thrill of being the main character, with storytelling that blends confessional comedy and musical cabaret.
“I’m so excited for this chapter of Broad Strokes," said Cohen in a statement. "This show is my favorite thing I’ve ever created, so to bring it to my fave city with this dream team is an honor. I’m truly counting down the days until I get to stroll through my neighborhood for our first performance at the Lortel!"
The show features music by Cohen and David Dabbon, direction by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers, set design by Derek McLane, lighting design by Jake DeGroot, costume design by Kelsey Randall, sound design by Cody Spencer, and music supervision by Dabbon.
