Casting update for Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera

The cast of The Phantom of the Opera gets set to welcome Bradley Dean, Meghan Picerno, and John Riddle.

New casting has been announced for the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera, which is currently the longest-running show in Broadway history, running at the Majestic Theatre.

From September 11, John Riddle will make his Phantom debut as Raoul. Mr Riddle originated the role of Hans in Disney's Frozen, having previously made his Broadway debut as Young Anton in The Visit.

He will be joined by Bradley Dean, who will also make his Broadway debut, as Monsieur André, one of the managers of the opera. Mr. Dean recently appeared in Bat Out of Hell at New York City Center, and has previously appeared in A Little Night Music, Spamalot, Dear Evan Hansen, The Last Ship and Company on Broadway.

Beginning the week of October 14, Meghan Picerno will assume the role of Christine, the young soprano who is the subject of the Phantom's affections. Ms. Picerno has performed the role previously, starring in the world tour of the musical, and has previously originated the same role in the North American premiere of Phantom's sequel, Love Never Dies.

Continuing in their roles in the musical will be Ben Crawford (as The Phantom), Craig Bennett (as Monsieur Firmin), Raquel Suarez Groen (as Carlotta), Maree Johnson (as Madame Giry), Carlton Moe (as Piangi) and Kelsey Connolly as (as Meg Giry).

Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical is based on Gaston Leroux's novel Le Fantôme de L'Opéra and tells the story of a masked musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House, and falls madly in love with a young soprano.

It is directed by the late Harold Prince, who passed away last month aged 91.

The Phantom of the Opera Tickets are available now for performances through March 7, 2020.
