Blue Door at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater


Playwrights Horizons and the Edge Theatre presents Blue Door, by Tanya Barfield, opens at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 10 Oct 2006, following previews from 28 Sep and runs through to 28 Oct 2006.

Blue Door: When a prominent African-American mathematician in crisis begins to lose his grip on reality, the ghosts of ancestors past shatter the silence of an insomnia-filled night.

Directed by Leigh Silverman,Blue Door stars Reg E. Cathey plays Lewis and Andre Holland (Shakespeare in the Park�s As You Like It and Much Ado About Nothing) plays Simon/Rex/Jesse.

Set design is by Narelle Sissons, with costumes by Toni-Leslie James, lighting by Mary Louise Geiger and sound by Ken Travis.

Biographies:

Tanya Barfield�s (Playwright) plays include Dent, The Quick, 121� West, Pecan Tan and The Houdini Act.

Leigh Silverman (Director) directed the Broadway premiere of Lisa Kron�s Well, as well as its Off-Broadway run (world premiere) and its run in San Francisco at A.C.T.

Reg E. Cathey (Lewis) made his Broadway debut in Julie Taymor�s The Green Bird and also appeared in her Fool�s Fire.

Andr� Holland (Simon/Rex/Jesse) is a 2006 graduate of the NYU Graduate Acting Program (MFA). He�s appeared at Shakespeare in the Park in As You Like It (director, Mark Lamos) and Much Ado About Nothing (director, David Esbjornson) and at London�s Young Vic in Andorra.
