
Campbell Scott was born on July 19, 1961 in New York City. He is known for his TV roles as Mark Usher on Netflixās House of Cards,Ā as Boris Kuester von Jurgens-Ratenicz on USA Networkās Royal Pains,Ā and as Joseph Tobin on FXās Damages,Ā and his film role as Richard Parker in The Amazing Spider-ManĀ and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Scott attended the John Jay High School in Cross River, New York, and went on to study at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, graduating in 1983.
Scott has appeared regularly both on and off Broadway. He made his Broadway debut in The Queen and the Rebels in September 1982, and his other Broadway credits from the 1980s include Tom Stoppardās The Real Thing (1984-85), NoĆ«l Cowardās Hay Fever (1985-86), and Eugene OāNeillās Long Dayās Journey Into Night in repertory with OāNeillās Ah, Wilderness! (1988). After a lengthy absence, he returned to BroadwayĀ in December 2015 to star as Lloyd Dallas in Roundabout Theatre Companyās Broadway revival of Noises Off. His Off-Broadway credits from the mid-1980s to early 1990s include Roundaboutās A Man for All Seasons, Copperhead, Lincoln Center Theaterās 1989 revival of Measure for Measure, Paradise for the Worried, The Public Theaterās 1991 revival of Pericles, and Playwright Horizonsā On the Bum. He was last seen off Broadway in Culture Projectās 2008 production of The Atheist at Barrow Street Theatre, earning a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance.
On television, Scottās first breakthrough role was Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. in the 1990 ABC miniseries The Kennedys of Massachusetts,Ā and he went on to play Thomas Jefferson in Liberty! An American RevolutionĀ on PBS in 1997. In 2006, he was cast as Steven Caseman in ABCās Damages,Ā and from 2006 to 2016, he portrayed the career-defining role of Boris Kuester von Jurgens-Ratenicz in Royal PainsĀ on the USA Network. In 2010, he played Joseph Tobin on DamagesĀ on FX. Recently, he was seen as Mark Usher on the hit Netflix series House of Cards,Ā airing in 2017 and 2018, and as Stanley Austen in AMCās DietlandĀ in 2018.
