Wicked: Alli Mauzey to return as Glinda

 

Alli Mauzey is to return to the role of 'Glinda' on 24 Sep 2013 in the Broadway company of Wicked. Mauzey assumes the role from Katie Rose Clarke who will play her final performance on 22 Sep 2013.

Mauzey has previously played the role on Broadway in 2008 and 2012, and on National Tour. Her other Broadway credits include 'Lenora' in 'Cry-Baby' and 'Brenda' in 'Hairspray.'

She joins a cast which includes Lindsay Mendez (Elphaba), Tom McGowan (The Wizard), Carol Kane (Madame Morrible), Derek Klena (Fiyero), Catherine Charlebois (Nessarose), John Schiappa (Doctor Dillamond) and Michael Wartella (Boq).

The Broadway musical Wicked opened at the Gershwin Theatre on 30 Oct 2003, following previews from 8 Oct 2003 and is currently selling tickets through to 13 Apr 2014.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.

Wicked has music & lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire.

The musical is directed by Joe Mantello, with choreography by James Lynn Abbott, scene design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound by Tony Meola.
