Roundabout announces complete cast of Travesties on Broadway

Scarlett Strallen and more will join Tom Hollander in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Travesties at the American Airlines Theatre.

The Roundabout Theatre Company, in association with Chocolate Factory Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions, has now announced complete casting for the first Broadway revival of Tom Stoppard's Tony Award-winning play Travesties, starring BAFTA winner and Olivier Award nominee Tom Hollander and directed by Tony Award nominee Patrick Marber.

Joining Mr. Hollander (who reprises his role as Henry Carr from the Menier Chocolate Factory and West End engagements) will be London co-star Peter McDonald (as James Joyce), as well as Seth Numrich (as Tristan Tzara), Nicholas Woodeson (as Lenin), 2-time Olivier Award nominee Scarlett Strallen (as Gwendolen), Sara Topham (as Cecily), Opal Alladin (as Nadya) and Patrick Kerr (as Bennett).

Previews will begin at Broadway's American Airlines Theatre on March 29, 2018, before an official opening on April 24, and a limited engagement through to June 17, 2018.

Synopsis: "In 1917 Zurich, an artist - Tristan Tzara, a writer - James Joyce, and a revolutionary - Lenin, collide in a kaleidoscopic thrill-ride."

The creative team behind Travesties features scenic and costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound design & original music by Adam Cork, and movement by Polly Bennett.

Tom Stoppard's Travesties premiered at London's Aldwych Theatre in June 1974. It transferred to New York, opening at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in October 1975, eventually picking up the Tony Award for "Best Play" and "Best Actor in Play" (for John Wood) in 1976.

This revival production debuted at London's Menier Chocolate Factory, with Mr. Marber at the helm and Mr. Hollander starring as Henry Carr, and played a limited engagement from September through to November 2016. Tom Hollander earned an Olivier Award nomination this year for his performance as Henry Carr in Travesties in London. He made his Broadway debut in The Judas Kiss opposite Liam Neeson at the Broadhurst Theatre in 1998. Other London theatre credits include A Flea in Her EarLandscape with WeaponThe Hotel in AmsterdamKing LearTartuffeThe Government InspectorMojoThe Way of the World, and The Threepenny Opera. He won a BAFTA TV Award this year for his role in "The Night Manager" and has received four further BAFTA nominations for "Rev" (3 for acting, 1 for writing), along with his first BAFTA nomination for "Gracie!" Other notable screen credits include "Taboo," "Doctor Thorne," "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation," "About Time," "Hanna," "Desperate Romantics," "Valkyrie," "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," "Pride & Prejudice," "Gosford Park," and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.

Travesties Tickets are available now for performances from March 29 through to June 17, 2018.
