'Galileo' sets additional Broadway cast joining Raúl Esparza

The new rock musical about astronomer Galileo Galilei starts performances at the Shubert Theatre in November.

More stars have been added to the cast of this fall's Galileo on Broadway, starting performances at the Shubert Theatre on November 10 ahead of a December 6 opening.

Joining the previously announced Raúl Esparza as Galileo, Jeremy Kushnier as Bishop Maffeo Barberini, and Joy Woods as Virginia Galilei are Bradley Dean (Chess) as Bishop Grasso, Jordon Lee Garcia as Alessandro Tarantola, Javier Muñoz (Hamilton) as Cardinal Morosini, and Grammy Award winner Michael Park (Stranger Things) as the alternate for Galileo Galilei at certain performances.

Additional casting has yet to be announced.

Michael Mayer directs Galileo, a new rock musical about the 17th-century astronomer who defied the Catholic Church in the name of scientific truth. The musical has a book by Emmy Award winner Danny Strong (Dopesick, Chess), music and lyrics by Michael Weiner and Zoe Sarnak, and choreography by David Neumann (Hadestown).

Galileo also has music supervision and orchestrations by Brian Usifer, set design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kevin Adams, sound design by John Shivers, and video and projection design by Ethan Tobman.
