Galileo the musical comes to New York after its acclaimed run at Berkeley Rep in California, where the San Francisco Chronicle wrote that "Esparza has so much vocal power that, in a beat of silence after he sings, an echo has its own beginning, middle and end."

The musical brings together a powerhouse team. Directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer and co-starring Tony nominee Joy Woods and Jeremy Kushnier, Galileo on Broadway examines the fraught period in which famed scientist Galileo Galilei argued that his celestial observations go against the church's teachings, ushering in a new way of seeing the world and its place in the universe.

Charged with a rock score and sweeping in its storytelling and sumptuous design, Galileo may be an ancient figure, but this musical is for today's audiences.

The musical is produced by Amanda Lipitz, Henry Tisch, and Jordan Roth. In a joint statement, they said, “The moment Galileo lifts his telescope to the sky and reshapes our understanding of the universe is one of history’s great turning points."
