n Early History of Fire: new opening date

The New Group has announced an new opening date for their world premiere production of David Rabe's An Early History of Fire, opening at Theatre Row's Acorn Theater. Originally scheduled to open on 23 Apr 2012, the show will now open on 30 Apr 2012. The production will still begin previews on 5 Apr 2012 and close on 26 May 2012 as first announced.

Directed by dircted by Jo Bonney, the cast will star Claire van der Boom (Karen) and Theo Stockman (Danny), and will also feature Deema Aitken, Gordon Clapp, Erin Darke, Jonny Orsini, Devin Ratray and Dennis Staroselsky.

The previously announced Lily Rabe, playwright David Rabe's daughter, who was to have starred as 'Karen' has withdrawn from the production due to a scheduling conflict.

An Early History of Fire: In a Midwestern town, Danny's world is defined by friendship and loyalty. But the bigger world is encroaching, in the form of Karen, back from college in the east, alluring and unsettling because of what she now knows. Still, Danny can't escape the grip of his immigrant father, who is mourning a vanished world of lost prestige and clinging to his only son.

The creative team includes set design by Neil Patel, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, costume design by Theresa Squire and sound design by Ken Travis.
