The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice, the nation's largest alternative weekly newspaper, have now announced that 'Orange is the New Black' star and OBIE Award winner Lea Delaria will host The 60th Annual OBIE Awards. The event takes place on 18 May 2015 at Webster Hall in the East Village.

Ms. Delaria released the following statement:

"When I was a teenager, I used to read about actors receiving Obies. I thought to myself how cool it would be to have an Obie, then some 20 years later, I was given one. At that time I thought to myself what could be cooler than winning an Obie? Now some 18 years later I know, it's hosting The Obies. I could not be more excited."
Lea Delaria is perhaps best know for her TV role as Carrie 'Big Boo' Black on Netflix's hit series 'Orange is the New Black.' Her stage credits include her OBIE Award-winning performance as 'Hildy' in the Public Theatre's revival of 'On The Town,' as well as 'The Boys From Syracuse,' and 'The Rocky Horror Show.'

For the past 60 years the OBIE Awards have honored the best of Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway. Structured with informal categories that change annually, The OBIE Awards recognize persons and productions of excellence. Unlike most theatre awards, the OBIE Awards have no nominations.

Sponsors of this year's Awards include Athletics, Casa Nonna, Clear Channel Spectacolor, The Howard Gilman Foundation, The Trine Group, and Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.
